Rare and Wonderful Colonial / Winterhalder 9 Tube/Tubular Grandfather/Hall Clock. Circa 1910-20. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 96", W- 28" & D- 18". Model No. 1343
The Case: The case is in good physical condition. There are no breaks, chips, major cracks that I can see. The original finish is extremely clean and looks fantastic for a clock that is almost 100-11- years old. This case has not been refinished and is exactly what a collector wants, nothing altered or changed that I can see.
The Dial/Face: The silver and gold plated dial is in excellent physical condition and has a wonderful patina. The lunar calendar is beautifully painted with no chips or missing paint that I can see. The hour, minute and second hand are original and fit tightly to the arbor
The Mechanism: The German Winterhalder + Hofmeier 8 day weight driven 1/4 hour chiming mechanism has been running flawlessly.. It has a strong ticking sound and keeps very accurate time. The clock chimes, Westminster, Canterbury, St. Peter's and Whittington chimes beautifully. The sound of the 1/4 hour chime and hourly strike are wonderful. The sound resonates for a nice long time.
The Pendulum: The W+H pendulum is complete and looks great. I did put a magnet to the bob and it did not stick, it fell off.
The Weights: The 3 brass weights are original and have a wonderful patina and look fantastic. I can not see any dents, breaks, chips, etc...
The Tubes: The 9 tubes are original, in excellent physical condition. No breaks/cracks.
The Glass: The glass is original to the clock.
The Dust Cover: The dust covers on the back and on the side doors of the clock are original and in fine physical condition. There is a little bit of staining to the cloth.
The Keys: The door lock key and winding key are original to the clock.
Antique collectors and/or clock enthusiasts will love this original condition clock that is in great working order. This clock is extremely clean and looks much better in person than the photos.

An outstanding timepiece from one of the master German clock makers of the period- Winterhalder (circa 1900/1910)
An ebonised solid mahogany case adorned with beautiful hand painted floral themes. The stepped base stands on four carved ogee feet, each are joined with carved swags to front and sides.
The trunk has a full length glazed door, shaped and fitted with a pristine bevelled glass, finished with an arched hood, glazed face door with fretted sides.
The clock movement is a quality double chime with strike, this musical movement has the option of Whittington chimes or Westminster, chimes sounds each quarter with a gradual increase towards to a full chime and strike with the hours.
The sound is wonderful, eight individual brass tubes produce a sound far superior than your average longcase, mellow tones resonate from within this large case, a ninth larger tube is struck with the hours - Both strike and chimes can be silenced individually by their corresponding face levers.
The face plate is solid brass, overlayed with finely cut/patterned brass work, a silvered chapter, painted metal hands and two large subsidiary dials (plus smaller one for the seconds)
Three sequenced brass weights and a large brass pendulum(fine quality and all original)
The name Winterhalder is on the lower face with the factory logo on the movements backplate(see pics)
Measurements are: Height 223cm, width 61cm, depth 42cm
Condition: The case is robust and solid throughout, there are marks consummate with age as one might expect, the artwork to all panels is very good. Face chapter has small amount of silvering wear.
The movement is working perfectly, serviced recently and operating fine.
